Mike Wade / Bobby Messina | August 22, 1979

Old commercials intact and all, here’s from just before the top of the hour, Mike Wade into the Bobby Messina show from the tail end of the Summer of ‘79. As we’ve discussed earlier, WXLO is in the waning days of Top 40, in fact, it’s arguably AC on this aircheck already, but still being called 99X. It would only be a matter of weeks before the 99-XLO jingles make an appearance, and the “FM 99 – From The Streets” era (which was a ratings disaster) was only months away.

There are NO jingles on this. Just dead segues and (thankfully) plenty of personality. Still, it will invoke the wonderful memories that 99X brings.
